Dom Okus (00:00)
Hello everyone and welcome to the Backstik podcast. As you can see, it's just me and Jammer today and we are doing a review of the 2024-2025 season. But before we get into it, damn, how you doing bro?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (00:18)
I'm alright mate, I'm alright. We're both bringing out the corporate side today. We're both sat in the office, so don't tell the bosses. I'm good though man, I'm busy and fully moved up to Manchester now. Feels like I've been moving for the last two weeks, but I'm finally getting settled and just loving life. But yeah, busy. Busy is the word to sum it up, about yourself.

Dom Okus (00:23)
Hahaha

Hahaha

Good. Good.

100 % yeah same bro very busy it's funny though because I think you know both of our teams I'm wearing a West Ham shirt you're up in Manchester you support Man United and we're about to review the season and I don't think either of us have got anything nice to say about our teams to be honest

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (01:06)
⁓ I said it and done. I some choice

words.

Dom Okus (01:11)
Yeah, exactly. So I actually think we're probably going to stay away from United and West Ham in this episode, which would be great. Yeah, so yeah, exactly. But as we're going through this, if you're listening in your car or you're watching this on YouTube, first and foremost, make sure you're liking, commenting, subscribing, and also comment along with us. We're going to go through about five or six different topics today.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (01:16)
think that's for the best.

we're gonna do a hammered in the comments.

Thanks

Dom Okus (01:37)
You know, who's the player of the season, young player of the season, et cetera. So comment along. Do you agree with our takes? Do you not? Who do you think should have been involved in the conversation? And I think that kicks us right off. Player of the season. Jam, I'll let you go first. And then the next one, I'll go first. On this first one, who do you think is the player of the season?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (01:56)
Yeah.

I don't think it should be up for debate this one, to be honest with you, Mohammed Salah.

Dom Okus (02:04)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I think there's a few people who deserve an honorable mention, but just the numbers, right? Just the numbers, what he's been able to do. He's basically been unstoppable. Let's just call this Spade a spade.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (02:19)
29 goals and 18 assists. There was talk of him jetting off to Saudi and then Arne Slot's come in and just, and he's, he's got better. arguably this is the best version of Mohammed Salah that we've ever seen.

Dom Okus (02:23)
Disgusting.

Which is crazy, right? Because it's all like he's been doing this for the last five seasons. Right? So like, he's getting better with age, right? And like, the fact that Klopp left, the fact that there was the drama with the contract, right? Let's not forget, the fans almost turning on him. Like, are you about to leave us in the lurch? You're gonna leave on a free and go to another team? And he's just like, well look, the team needs to sort of, I mean, the board and whoever, the management structure, I need to sort out my contract.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (02:42)
Yeah.

Yes.

Dom Okus (03:03)
But that's not going to affect how I'm going to play, I'm still going to turn up and bang in two goals every week. Which is just like, Absolutely ridiculous.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (03:06)
Yeah. Ridiculous.

Well, he's put himself in a position where personally, I'm not in, I'm not on the side of this, but he's put himself in a position where people are now debating whether Mohammed Saleh is in the all time Premier League 11 over the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo. Like I'm seeing that conversation and

You can't argue with it. Personally, no. But the numbers, like you say, not just this year, for five, six years now have been ridiculous.

Dom Okus (03:36)
Nah.

I agree. Do know what's funny you say about that Premier League 11? I think no debate, he has to be in the conversation. Would I personally pick him? No. But he's been so consistent and he's been like undeniably good and effective that he has to be part of the conversation. Now, if you ask my personal opinion, I actually hate the way Salah plays. Right? Like someone who's like a football purist, if you want to call that, like loves to watch the game and actually watch the way people play and it's not all about stats. I hate the way he plays.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (03:51)
Mm-hmm.

Mm-hmm.

Duh.

Dom Okus (04:15)
I think that he's scuffstable a lot. feel like he's scuffstable a lot, but he's just so good, right? Like he is really good at what he does. yeah, wonderful season.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (04:26)
Yeah, and that's testament.

That's a testament. Like some people need to stay in their own lane a little bit and he does and he knows that I'm good at putting the ball in the net.

Dom Okus (04:36)
Agree. Let's give some honorable mentions though. I had written down two others that are both from the Liverpool team that I think were instrumental in them winning the league this year and maybe haven't got as much of the applause and that's McAlister and Gravenberge. I thought both of those players were immense, particularly Gravenberge. I think playing in that number six role, number four, whatever you want to call it, right in front of the back four, he kind of like transformed the team.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (04:44)
Mm-hmm.

Yep. Yep.

Dom Okus (05:06)
Right, and that they were kind of trying to play him in like a box to box maybe in a bit of bit of attacking midfield role. And he's just gone in there and he's just dictating play for the team. And like, I know there were question marks on that Liverpool midfield as well, if you remember. And I think those questions have gone away. So I do want to give them an honorable mention as well as two amazing seasons as well.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (05:15)
Yeah, yeah, we...

Yeah, yeah, I agree. agree. I'm going to be honest. I had no honourable mentions for this one. I think it's undeniable. ⁓

Dom Okus (05:33)
Yeah, he just like sat there and that's it. Yeah, yeah, I agree.

I agree. I agree. Right, let's move on to Young Player of the Season.

This is a tough one because I guess it depends what you define as young player, right? And I think for us, we discussed kind of off camera, we said 22 and under. So for me, I said Miles Lewis-Skelly.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (05:49)
There's a few names in the room.

Mm-hmm.

Okay.

Dom Okus (06:07)
And the reason I said that is because, think, in your first season, to perform at the level he did, playing out of position, he's not a left back, right? He's a central midfielder. And to come in and look that comfortable and slot right into that team, Arsenal had the best defensive record, I think, again this year, and he's a big part of that. So I went with Miles Lewis-Skelly. but I had two other names.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (06:20)
of it.

Dom Okus (06:37)
as well. I'd Liam de Lapp, I know his team went down, but he was fantastic and I'm sure he'll stay in the Premier League this year. And I had Graven Burch again. I Graven Burch who is 22, who I thought is immense. But I would love to hear from you, what you think.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (06:40)
Yep.

I have given it to Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.

Dom Okus (07:00)
Okay.

Yeah, send it back, yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (07:05)
He's a joke. He's an absolute joke. And I think sometimes defenders get overlooked a lot in awards, in just ability, you know, because attackers have the output and the numbers to back them up. But I have to give it to him because...

Dom Okus (07:06)
Yeah, he's really good.

Hmm.

Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (07:27)
Statistically, he's helped Bournemouth to, I think they're the sixth best defence in the Premier League. Top 10 finish for a club like Bournemouth is an amazing achievement. And I don't remember the last time...

Dom Okus (07:34)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yep.

Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (07:44)
a 20 year old foreign player came to the Premier League and just walked it. I don't remember him ever getting bullied. I don't remember him ever looking out of place. He just came in and was a joke from his first game. again, defenders get overlooked and I think it's an opportunity to, think he is for me, far and away the young player of season. What? I've given that one away. The young player of the season.

Dom Okus (08:12)
Yeah, I think I like the treas. think the thing I like about him the most is he's 6'6 and a ball playing turnabout, which is ridiculous, right? Like you'd think playing in England, he would have to be a headers and volleys great in the air, like Louis Dunk style centre back, right? Decent with the feet, but you'd think he'd be super dominant there. The guy is like pinging balls with both feet.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (08:22)
It's just ridiculous. Yeah.

Mm-hmm.

Dom Okus (08:38)
dribbling out from the back. like, this kid is an absolute joke. But I will say, I think Luis Skelly had a better season than him. I the impact that he had on Arsenal and the fact that they finished second, Champions League semi-final, I think I'm gonna go with Luis Skelly, but I can understand why he chose him. Did you have anyone else that was in the ring for for Young Lear?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (08:41)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Finish in second again.

Yeah, yeah, of

course, course, Lewis Skelly was in mind. think those were those are the two that really, you know, just I think were far and away in terms of, guess, like breakout stars as well.

Dom Okus (09:05)
Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (09:15)
and then you can put them in that category as well. So yeah, I think they're both honorable mentions. I just went with HjΓΈrsson just because I think he did it a club like Bournemouth as well. You know, and I think to be honest with you, I think that's a good opportunity for me to kind of allude us into our next award, which is signing of the season, where I've actually given the boy two awards. For me, he (DEAN HUIJSEN) was the signing of the season as well.

for all the reasons that I just explained about how he's come into the league and just been fantastic. ⁓ They bought him for 15 million and he's about to jet off to Real Madrid for 50. So in one season, he's proved at Bournemouth Football Club that Real Madrid are ready to spend decent bucks on him and go in and play for Real Madrid.

Dom Okus (10:05)
Yes.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (10:08)
for what he did for Bournemouth in their defence, but also what he's going to do for that football club in terms of the turnover that they'll get in 12 months. I think all signs point to, think, the impact that he made for me makes in the signing of the season as well.

Dom Okus (10:26)
Yeah, I agree. I had him as the signing of the season as well. And I think it's for all the reasons you described. Plus, I think the fact that you come in, you play one season, you get a top 10 finish and you make your club 35 million pounds is unbelievable. But yeah, yeah, it's crazy. It's crazy. Like to have that much of an impact and they see that in you.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (10:38)
Mm-hmm.

And Real Madrid

Dom Okus (10:53)
And like this is Real Madrid, right? They're trying to build a Galacticos for them to see him as part of that is crazy. But I also had another Bournemouth player as an honourable mention to that. And that was Eva Nelson. The reason I chose him, I'm pretty sure he came this summer. check me. People were listening, commenting, fact check me. Fact check me. But the reason I said that is because if I'm not mistaken, Dominic Salanke has just left.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (10:59)
Yep.

than you come season before.

Hahaha!

Dom Okus (11:23)
Right? And I think there was a big, there was big questions. No, no, no. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, And I think there was a lot of question marks on how Bournemouth will do. Right? And they thought that they would go down. And I think Eva-Nelson, Semenyo and Watara all kind of stepped up this season, but especially Eva-Nelson in that kind of striking position to push Bournemouth into actually kicking on from what they did last season.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (11:25)
I you were about to say he was... I thought you were about to say Don's blanking his attention by the way.

Dom Okus (11:53)
So I wanted to also mention him as well.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (11:55)
Yeah, I had one other as well and I need to look up how to pronounce his name.

Dom Okus (12:04)
This is gonna be funny.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (12:05)
⁓

It was Milinkovic of Nottingham Forest. When we're talking, and I know there's a theme here of me talking about defenders and whatnot, but what a season Nottingham Forest had.

Dom Okus (12:15)
Okay, yeah, send it back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

No.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (12:26)
Like they were, I think before the season, they were one of the favorites to go down and they've ended up towards, they've ended up nearly getting into Europe, like the Champions League. And he was ridiculous. was unbelievable week in, out. Didn't cost them that much money. The guy was a beast. And for again, the impact he had on that team, because when you looked at Forrest,

Dom Okus (12:32)
100 %

Yeah.

Yeah, I like that.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (12:55)
before the season, know, Chris Wood kind of came out of nowhere in terms of scoring the goals that he did, but you look at it, they've got excitement everywhere. know, Gibbs White, Alanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, know, players like that, Ilk, right? But not necessarily at the back. They didn't have, you know, many solid figures. So I think Milinkovic was very instrumental in, you know, giving Forrest quality at both ends of the pitch.

Dom Okus (13:06)
Yeah.

No.

Yeah, yeah, no, I agree. Really good sign and solid, solid. I that whole Nottingham Forest defence deserves some kind of mention this season. It's unfortunate that they kind fell off towards the end. But what season they had, right? A small club like Nottingham Forest to do what they did. Incredible. I mean, recent history, A footballing history, big club for sure, but of recent history...

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (13:38)
Mmm.

You're gonna upset some Forrest fans, they're calling them a small club by the way. ⁓

Dom Okus (13:53)
not a team that's expected to be anywhere near the top four.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (13:56)
Yeah, and I mean just on the subject of the forest as well, know, like Ola Eina, what a season he had as well. he's a joke.

Dom Okus (14:02)
Fantastic

player. He's so good. So good. Really hard to beat. Really good going forward. And also his content as well. Outside of the pitch, like all of the content that he puts out, all the players. Hilarious. Yeah. Funny. Super, super funny. Right. Our next award we want to give out is Most Improved Player. And I think this is super subjective, so I'd love to hear from our listeners what they thought about this. And... ⁓

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (14:11)
Yeah, yeah, loves a podding, he? ⁓

Dom Okus (14:31)
I guess I'll go first. I've gone very left field. This is a name I don't think many people would think that I'm going to say or even you would think I'm going to say. But I'm going to say Justin Kluivert And the reason I've gone Justin Kluivert is because pretty much for his whole career, he's had this cloud over his head because his dad is a football legend. Right. And there's not many players who have a dad in football who was great.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (14:33)
Mm.

⁓

justify.

Yep.

Dom Okus (15:02)
who then kick on to be a good player. Now I'm not saying he's reached the heights of his dad, but he showed this season that he's a player. I think he's really struggled up until this point. And again, we spoke about Burt Bournemouth earlier in the show. ⁓ He's one of the reasons why they were able to have a top 10 finish, right? In that he was doing some bonkers things, free kicks, dribbling through three players and banging it in, goals assist. So in terms of an improvement, I think he says, I've arrived.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (15:10)
yeah.

Okay.

Dom Okus (15:30)
and I'm a Premier League player. And so that's why I for him.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (15:31)
Yeah.

I like it, I like it. And he was one of the names I actually had on the list. I went with a player who people, you know, undoubtedly know his quality before the season, but he's just kicked himself on to a different level now. And I've gone with Brian Mbuemo.

Dom Okus (15:38)
No.

Okay, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (15:55)
numbers

alone last season, 9 goals, 6 assists, right? Which I think for a player who's playing for Brentford, that is a very more than respectable return. forward to this year, 20 league goals and 7 assists. He's more than doubled his output in terms of goals. He's got more assists and not only the output, but the guy's a baller.

Dom Okus (16:09)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

He's a baller. Like, he's so good. He's one of my favorite players to watch. He's so good.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (16:26)
Like...

Yeah, and like now we're talking this summer about, know, no matter where United are at, know, United are after him, Newcastle are after him, you know, he's a player that, you know, that if whatever team picks up Brian and Buemo this summer, they're a problem.

Dom Okus (16:51)
error problem. mean the add in 20 league goals, the add in 20 league goals.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (16:53)
So.

Exactly

and all the other things that come with it, know, as we said there, you know, it's not just about sticking it in the back of the net. It's all the other things, you know, he's a hard worker. He presses well. He links up well with his teammates. You you saw the partnership and the combination that he had with Wissa this season, you know. He's one of those players that I feel like will make his fellow midfielders and forwards around him, you know, enhance their ability a bit as well. So I think he's been, he's been top.

Dom Okus (17:11)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (17:24)
One player

that I think was overlooked a little bit, Jacob Murphy.

Dom Okus (17:33)
It's funny, he's on my list. He's on my list as well. As again, I think he's had one of those careers that's been very, we know that he's a good player, but has he really cemented himself? And he's always kind of been like a fringe player. It feels like at Newcastle who have a little bit of a patch of good form and then he'll go out of the team and then they'll come on as a sub and whatever. And I think he's established himself, especially through the injuries that Newcastle had as like, yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (17:35)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Dom Okus (18:01)
Like, I deserve to be here. I'm a Premier League player. So yeah, I respect that as well. I think you mentioned in Buema Odo, we have to mention Wisar as well, who also got 19 Premier League goals this year. And I think the biggest thing about that is that Brentford lost Tony, right? They lost their talisman. And then the two, I guess, supporting acts, if you want to call that, have then basically gone and got 20 league goals each. Yeah, mad. Absolutely mad. Absolutely crazy.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (18:18)
Yes.

That's rough.

Yeah, I think that's a

massive testament to Thomas Frank and the work that he obviously does down there and the way that he's just got that club running like clockwork. know, they've done it in the past where, you know, like they've always replaced what's left. Like you think of Ollie Watkins in the past, you know, they've always found a way to plug the gaps. you know, Norgard in the middle was phenomenal this year as well. So.

Dom Okus (18:38)
Yeah.

Hola.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (18:59)
Yeah, there's a lot of good things going on down at Brentford and I'm intrigued to see what happens with them in the summer because inevitably, like I said, Mbembo, teams are going to come in and it wouldn't surprise me if, you know, Vissa and Norgard have got strong interest as well from elsewhere. So it'd be interesting to what they do with those, if they have to plug those gaps.

Dom Okus (19:15)
I dunno.

Yeah, it'll be interesting because it's going to cost a lot. Would you price a winger that's just got a winger and a striker that's just got 20 league goals each in the prem? That's not easy to come back, right?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (19:27)
I mean, they're

talking 50 million from Buemo and I'm not being funny. Like some of the rates that are being thrown around for other wingers, 50 million, that's snap you're in.

Dom Okus (19:36)
That's worth it.

100 % that's definitely worth it. But I don't think they would sell for that right? If it was 50 million like who are they going to replace them with? If you sell Brian and Bema for 50 million can you get another Brian and Bema for 50 million? I don't think you can.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (19:47)
Yeah, exactly.

Yeah, it's just, you know, thing is though, Brentford's one of those clubs like Brighton where they'll probably just spawn someone out of nowhere that no one's even found out that they signed. And all of a sudden he's like banged on in from 40 yards three weeks in a row. Where did you come from?

Dom Okus (20:02)
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's hilarious. Yeah,

it's true. It's true. I mean, I Brian Lombardo was 30 when I first saw him. And then I found out, and then I found out he was like 24. was like, what the hell? Where have you been? So good. So good. Right. Who is our manager of the season?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (20:16)
Bang!

Literally.

Cool.

Dom Okus (20:35)
And I think there's a few contenders here, but this one's going to be a really interesting conversation. But Jam, I'll let you go first. Who is your 2024, 2025 manager of the season?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (20:38)
Yep.

⁓ For me, think it goes, obviously, like you said, there's a few managers in the ring, but it's kind of like the most salar one. For me, Arne Slot, I think it's easy sometimes to pick the manager that won the league as the manager of the season. But in this case, it's the manner in which he's done it. People were asking question marks, sorry, people were, you know, there was question marks around how are Liverpool going to do without Klopp and...

Dom Okus (20:56)
Hmm.

Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (21:16)
He's come in and he is.

tweaked the way that Liverpool plays to suit the players that they've got and they just look like a complete, like a well-oiled machine. I think it was clear from quite early on that no one was going to beat him to the title and he's done it in his first season in the Premier League. You know, we've seen managers come in, Erik Ten Hag for example, from the Dutch league and struggle to adapt to the Premier League and he's just made it look easy. So I think only for winning the league but all the question marks that surrounded him at the beginning of the season

and just for making it look easy. I think it has to go to Arnold slot for me.

Dom Okus (21:53)
Yeah, and I think if we don't forget, when Klopp left, we thought that this was the end of an era for Liverpool, right, in that they'd finished second a few times, they'd won the league, they'd won the Champions League, and we felt that it was like an end of a cycle, particularly for what we discussed earlier in the show, in that Salah was in the last year of his contract, Virgil van Dijk was in the last year of his contract, and Trent Alexander-Arnold was in last year of his contract, which essentially is your best three players, right? So the pressure's on, in that if you don't perform,

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (22:01)
Thank you.

Thanks.

Yeah.

Dom Okus (22:22)
you're probably going to lose all of them. Right? And so I think I agree Arne Slot is probably our manager of the season, especially because he's almost solidified Liverpool as a top European side for years to come. And he's got the renewal from Van Dijk, the renewal from Salah, the midfield is young and good. He'll of course make some signings this summer.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (22:25)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Dom Okus (22:50)
And so yeah, I think I agree. Like they've already talked about putting in bids for works, Florian Wirtz. And so yeah, yeah. So like they're not messing about. They're not messing about. They just want the title. You know what mean?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (23:03)
That's

what good teams do. They buy when they're strong. That's what kept City at the top for so long. That's what kept United on top for so long in years gone by. You buy when you're strong and you keep the train rolling. But also, we're both players. It keeps you on your toes as well. If you know that there's someone coming in that's decent from in your position or at least around it, it keeps everyone firing on all cylinders. So it's healthy competition.

Dom Okus (23:07)
Yeah.

Yeah.

100 % 100 %

I would say though I am an odd with Arna Salaar or Eddie Howe. The reason I say Eddie Howe is he won a trophy in Newcastle and he got them in the Champions League. Now he got them in the Champions League by the skin of their teeth on the last day but to get Newcastle back in the Champions League yeah to get Newcastle back in the Champions League

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (23:39)
Okay.

Yeah. Yeah, they've got United to thank for that.

Dom Okus (23:59)
and to get a trophy.

I one could argue Newcastle had a better season in Arsenal.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (24:06)
Mm-hmm. Yeah. Okay, yeah.

Dom Okus (24:08)
One could argue that, right? And so, yeah,

I think Eddie Howe's done a great job. I think he's under a lot of pressure there. ⁓ Even though he doesn't show it, I think the fact that they've got so much money and folks are like, yeah, Eddie Howe's good for now to kind of stable the ship, but is he going to be the one to actually do something with the club now they've got this injection of capital? And I think he's shown that he can, right? In that his team's performing well.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (24:32)
Yeah.

Dom Okus (24:35)
Yes, there was a little bit of a drop off, but at the end of the day, he's got them Champions League football and he's got them a trophy in the trophy cabinet. So, yeah, I think I wanted to definitely talk about Eddie Howe too.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (24:42)
Yeah, I think,

yeah, mean, I know we've talked about Forrest a little bit in this, you know, the episode already, but I think if we're going off of that, Nuno has to be an honourable mention as well. You know, we've talked about it already, but the job that he's done from a team that were tipped to be down the bottom of the league, to be fighting for champions in these places and being one of the most exciting teams to watch in the league, Nuno has done an amazing job.

Dom Okus (24:51)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Yeah, I agree. I agree. I don't want to give a shout out to Glasner as well. I Pallis were great. Obviously, they just won the FA Cup as well, beat City. I think he's done a really good job as well. yeah, man, there's some really good managers in the Premier League right now. And I'm excited to see what happens next year because I think the league is going to be... Like, the league was fierce this year, right? You've got Tottenham and United and West Ham finishing in the bottom five, basically.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (25:15)
Amen.

Do you hear?

Yeah.

Dom Okus (25:38)
or bottom six or whatever it is, you know, like what the hell is going on? Like this league is intense. Like, yes, the promoted teams were like way off it. But apart from that, like anyone could be anyone from 17th up. was, it was a really tough league. So I'm excited to see what happens next year for sure. Right. Now the one that everyone's been waiting for our team of the season. Now Jam, how do you want to do this? Do you want to go position by position? Do you want to go team by team?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (25:49)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah, agree.

Dom Okus (26:07)
So want to go, should we maybe do goalkeeper and defence? Discuss that, then do the midfield, discuss that and then finish it off forwards. How do you want to break this down?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (26:15)
I

think we'll go position by position. I have set my team up in a 4-3-3. Okay, it works perfectly then. So I think we'll start off with the goalkeeper. And I will go first, I'll tick this one off. And I will go with cells.

Dom Okus (26:19)
Okay. Okay.

Same. Same.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

I you were gonna say that. I knew you were gonna say that.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (26:44)
Mate, he was co-winner of the Golden Glove, man, and he was phenomenal in again, like we were talking about Milinkovic earlier in the show. Big reason why they kept balls out the net. He was brilliant.

Dom Okus (26:58)
Yeah,

it was really good, but I've gone with David Raya. I've gone with Raya at Arsenal. Again, best defence in the league. I think he's a big part of that. I think, honestly, if Arsenal had a striker, they would be there or thereabouts in terms of the league. And I think him and the defence at Arsenal are really doing their job and can't really do any better. And so, again, also the consistency, the fact that he had the best events last season.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (27:25)
Okay.

Dom Okus (27:27)
and he's done it again, so I'm gonna go with Ryo, but completely understand why he went with the cells.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (27:32)
Cool, moving on.

Dom Okus (27:34)
Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (27:36)
Right back.

Dom Okus (27:37)
Right back on the forest feet, my back should have gone all out, know? Yeah, I've gone all out, you know? think... Yeah, I'm giving it to all the, you know? Forest fans, please don't kill me. Please, please, please. Yeah, I've gone all out, know? I think he was... There's a few players in that position I think I could have mentioned, but I'll let you say who you're going to say first and then maybe we discuss. But yeah, I think all that stood out for me...

Really solid, good attacking returns, good defensively, really solid and obviously that forest defense was kind of epic this year so I went with him.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (28:18)
Yeah, no, appreciate all of that. And basically for the same reasons, I went with Munoz from Palace. Quality. Quality. For the same reasons, like they've both got very similar attributes. They're both good in both boxes. Just really good fullbacks, to be honest. And yeah, I thought he was top.

Dom Okus (28:26)
Yes, yes, yes, yes, that was a toss up for me. It one of those two. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah, yeah,

yeah, no, I agree. I agree. Right, let's go over to the other side then left back. Who did you have as your left back?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (28:45)
I went with Kirkas.

Dom Okus (28:48)
Okay, okay, because I can see that.

Really good player. Really, really good player. Like, a true left back. You know, like not a centre back. He's playing left back. Just a true left back. Good left foot wand on him. Yeah, strong in the tackle. Got a bit of speed. Yeah, really good player. Really, really good player.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (28:54)
Yep.

trouble. ⁓

aggressive.

Yeah,

and he's about to get, I mean, it looks like he's going to get a move as well. So, you know, his efforts will be sort of rewarded, I guess you could say.

Dom Okus (29:12)
Yeah.

rewarded.

And I think he really fits well into that Liverpool team as well if that does end up materializing because yeah, he just fits the profile doesn't he? But for me, I went with Miles Lewis Skelly. I think he has to get rewarded for what he's done this season. Yeah, folks might say he's a little bit aggressive, maybe a little bit rash. But I think for him to come in at such a young age and play for one of the best teams in the world, this is called the Spade of Spade and perform in the way he does.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (29:20)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Dom Okus (29:45)
think for me that has to be rewarded so I've put him in my team. Santa Buff, tell me both of your Santa Rives.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (29:49)
Nice. right. Okay.

Mm-hmm. All right. So just like, okay, I'm going start with Van Dyke. Van Dyke's there. ⁓

Dom Okus (29:58)
Yep. No. Yep.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (30:01)
You can't not, you just can't not. But the other one,

just like you put in your young player in, my young player is in. So Dean Hurston to partner Van Dijk in that team of the season. We've already talked about it, but we'll talk about Van Dijk in a second instead because the focus, they just...

Dom Okus (30:08)
Okay. Yeah. Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (30:21)
It's a joke. Like, one the best defenders in history, you know, it's undeniable at this stage, even after the injury and coming back and doing it again and again and again and leading Liverpool to another title. You know, what a player.

Dom Okus (30:23)
Yeah.

Yep.

Yeah, unbelievable player. And the consistency again for him to play at this level for this long. It doesn't look like he's like showing down, which is incredible. Yeah, he's a phenomenal, phenomenal footballer. My centre backs were also Van Dyck and then I've gone for Gabrielle from Arsenal. I know he got injured towards the end of the season, but I actually feel that that's the reason that Arsenal

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (30:48)
Yeah, new contracts.

Yeah.

Dom Okus (31:07)
fell off to be honest and I know this is an unpopular opinion but I actually think Gabriel is better than Saliba. I know most people think that Saliba is the best center back in the Premier League and is the heir to Van Dijk and all of this stuff but I actually think Gabriel is better especially for what he can do in terms of attacking and yeah and I actually think he's one of the leaders in the Arsenal team.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (31:13)
Wow.

he's brilliant from set pieces.

Dom Okus (31:37)
I know there's a lot of talk about Arsenal not having like, what did Trez Dini say, the Cajoners or whatever, right? But I actually get that from him, that kind of leadership, that aggression, that want to win, that want to step up and win a big game for his team. And yeah, I know he got injured for the last, what, seven to 10 games or so, but he played about 28 games this season. And yeah, for me, he is the second best center back in the Premier League.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (31:42)
Hahaha.

Dom Okus (32:06)
and say it's in my team.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (32:07)
That's fair. That's fair. All right. Moving on to mood filters. Yeah, I'll let you name your three.

Dom Okus (32:09)
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'll go first. Yeah, yeah.

Three, go all three. Right, so I went with... Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (32:18)
I'll tell you what, yeah, no,

think we need to do three, yeah, because they might overlap.

Dom Okus (32:23)
Alright,

I want mcgrabbinbunch, Dexamrice.

and Cole Palmer. They're the second best team in the league. What do want me to say? Well, yeah, I've got Grav, Reyes and Palmer. So I've kind of gone Grav and Reyes are probably going to interchange in that kind of defensive slash eight position and I want Cole Palmer just in the 10 doing attacking work. But I think those three in the midfield is a good balance. I think they've all shown this season why they're top, top players.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (32:30)
I love asking what you do, fucking hell. What the fuck?

Dom Okus (32:59)
And so, yeah, that's my midfield, but I feel like you're not gonna have any or maybe one of those players. So let's see what you say.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (33:07)
I have gone with Gravenbirch, Light Yourself, Macalester and Tonali.

Dom Okus (33:10)
Yeah. OK.

Okay, okay, okay.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (33:16)
Now,

we've spoken and I think it's easy to see why I've picked Graham Burch and Tenali. We both picked Graham Burch, but Graham Burch and then obviously McAllister. Tenali was not available at the beginning of the season and Newcastle were struggling. Like they weren't where they should have been. When he stepped into that midfield and I think it's, you know, you can also throw.

Dom Okus (33:23)
Yes.

Yes.

and

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (33:43)
Bruno Gemmaraj and Joel Linton into that. But Tenali's impact of coming back into that team and where Newcastle went after he came back in and catapulted them up into the top four or Champions League positions. Did they finish top four? Yeah, fifth, yeah. Yeah, I just think his impact was undeniable. And also, like, it's just... ⁓

Dom Okus (33:59)
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Now they finished fifth. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (34:12)
Do you know what surprised me? You know when you look at him and he came from AC Milan and you think he's just gonna be pillow, he can't run, that boy can run. He is box to box athlete. Like proper, proper player. yeah, grab a boat from Callister to Nali for me.

Dom Okus (34:20)
He's an athlete. He's an athlete. Yeah, he is. is. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

So you'd have to gnarly in your midfield over Cole Palmer.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (34:34)
Yeah, because Cole, mate, and I've been quoted on this podcast before saying that Cole Palmer was in the running for the Ballon d'Or because what he's been doing was ridiculous, but he just dropped off, he dropped off for too long for me. I know he's just done a madness in the Conference League final. ⁓

Dom Okus (34:55)
Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (34:56)
And listen, for anyone listening or watching, I adore Karl Palmer. I think he's unbelievable. think he's just got everything to be one of the best players in the world. But just the reason alone, ⁓ yeah, just that little dip in form for too long. ⁓ Where he wasn't necessarily injured, he was just, he just had a dip. And I don't think you can have that long of a dip in my opinion, and then getting the team in a season.

Dom Okus (35:07)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

finish fair.

Yeah.

⁓ No, very fair. I'm definitely like

front of the season, first half of the season bias, but I just think what he was doing and he's a big part of why Terence finished in the top four and are back in the top four so I'll put him in. But I could get what you're saying, definitely get what you're saying and definitely not mad at your midfielder at all. Alright, your front three. Let's see what you've done with your front three.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (35:33)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Yeah, I think it speaks for itself to be honest with you. I've gone Salah and Bueno and Alexander Isak. All three of them, amazing seasons, massive for their teams, output.

Dom Okus (35:52)
right right right right

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (35:59)
in whatever context, whether it be in Brentford having a good season, you know, for their standards. ESAC contributing goals on goals on goals on goals for Newcastle, getting them into the Champions League and Salah speaks for itself.

Dom Okus (36:15)
Yeah, it's funny because I had the exact same front three for my team as well. So it's undeniable. You know what? What's funny?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (36:19)
⁓ there we go. Surprise you didn't put fucking Sacher or Martin Ellie in there.

Honestly, boys didn't give our Teta

a fucking manager of the season either.

Dom Okus (36:32)
You know what's funny? You know what's funny about this though? Is that think throughout this whole podcast we've been speaking for about 35 minutes, we've not mentioned anything about Man City. And that's the one thing that popped into my head is that, that's one thing that's popped into my head is, is it fair that we didn't pick Highland? The boys scored 20.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (36:50)
Wow,

Dom Okus (37:01)
two goals, got three assists, had some injuries this year and we've not picked him as striker, we've picked Iczak who's got 23 goals in six assists. So yeah, got slightly better numbers but was available for more games. Is that fair? Is that a little bit of bias because everyone's kind of talking shit about City at the minute and you know, we're saying they're falling off or whatever, they still finished third. Ireland's still probably the best striker in the league, if not the world. I'll be being harsh by not including them in our team.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (37:15)
is

It's a very interesting question because I'll tell you what I didn't I didn't even consider him

Dom Okus (37:33)
You know?

But

I've got the top scorers here and I'm like, hold on a minute. Ireland's finished third top scorer. 23 goals and we've not even spoken about him.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (37:46)
Just,

is it fair? Probably not. But I think in terms of the impact that he had, sorry, that the ESAC had on Newcastle this year, pips him. But just on your point, I'd love to know the last time that a Manchester City player wasn't in the team of the season, by the

Dom Okus (38:00)
Mm.

Yeah. Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (38:12)
Like,

and bearing in mind, they're still in the Champions League next year. And we're talking about them like they have this disaster season, like a United or a Tottenham.

Dom Okus (38:23)
Yeah, exactly. Like, think about it this way, right? If Nottingham Forest would have finished third, they probably would have had at least two players in the team of the season. You finish third and have none and they're not even spoken about. Like, it's not even like, maybe this person, maybe that person. There's no, there's no discussion. And that's what I was thinking about through this whole show. We haven't even mentioned them. And I think they were like victim of their own success in that, like they've done so well that them going for a trophy this season and just finishing in

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (38:31)
Mm-hmm.

love the idea of the holiday.

Dom Okus (38:52)
the top three is like, my God, they're awful. You know, we're talking about them like they're Tottenham or something. It's crazy. It's crazy. It's absolutely crazy.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (38:57)
Yeah.

Yeah, yeah, nah.

I think it's important that we, you know, we've always done, you know, honourable mentions throughout this whole pod. there's a few that I will name as honourable mentions to the, team at least.

Dom Okus (39:10)
Yeah.

Well,

next day.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (39:22)
Morgan Rogers, Morgan Gibbs-White and Mateusz Kounia.

Dom Okus (39:29)
Mmm. ⁓ fantastic picks.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (39:31)
Three players,

just ridiculous. Now, just on Cunha, please sign the contract and save us. We want a bit of Brazilian flair at the Theatre of Dreams. We'll give you the number 10, we'll give you the lot, mate. Just sign the contract, please, and come to United. What a player. ⁓ And then the other two, Morgan Rogers, mean, mate, he's been genuinely one of my favourite players to watch all season.

Dom Okus (39:36)
Yeah.

you

Yeah.

No. No.

You know what it is? The way he plays is so mature for someone so young. And I know I feel like we say this all the time about young players, but like as a centre midfielder, to be basically going around bullying players, right, as a young centre midfielder, so good on the dribble, so dynamic, can score goals, can tackle, dictate play. I'm just like, man, like he's got some career ahead of him if he can just continue to build on that. Like, what a player.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (40:29)
Yeah, because there's players that have broken out, for example, like a Palmer, who was unbelievable on one end of the pitch, right? But he's everywhere. Wattas is everywhere.

Dom Okus (40:38)
Yeah, yeah.

What a, like, what a player.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (40:42)
And I don't think you're

allowed to take, like, you're not allowed to just, in Unai Emery's team at Villa, like, he's not allowed to sack it off and just think, oh, I'm just gonna do that into the pitch. So maybe that comes from the manager that's sort of instilled that into him, I don't know, but he just, he's got everything. I think he's got everything.

Dom Okus (40:58)
Yeah.

Yeah, he's a player, I Tushel's going to have some issues, think, come next summer. In terms of who's he going to play in, I mean, yeah, some good issues, but like, there's some good...

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (41:06)
Some good issues.

If a

really good English centre-back could just like spring up and stay fit for more than like three games, we've got one hell of a team.

Dom Okus (41:20)
Yeah, no, I think it's gonna end up being Guehi and stones, probably.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (41:25)
Well,

mean, if stones can stay fit, mate, it's probably gonna be McGuire.

Dom Okus (41:27)
Yeah, that's what

I'm gonna say.

we can't be using LaGuaia for another ton to kill me. I guess he's come back from... That is good. In an English that is great. Right? I've got no... Got the worst.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (41:34)
May.

mate in the middle of a back stream

of wires the man

Dom Okus (41:43)
I love the tournament, Maguire. Sure. I guess. I guess. But in terms of honourable mentions for me, Chris Wood, who we've already talked about, but him getting 20 goals at Forest, fantastic. I think I also wanted to mention Mateta at Palace. Like, he has like really come into his own this season.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (41:45)
Head kick shout. Slur. ⁓

⁓ yeah, yeah, yeah.

Dom Okus (42:09)
didn't get loads and loads of goals, but I he got about 14 or 15. So still a good output was obviously instrumental in them winning the FA Cup. And then this is going to be a little bit biased, but I feel like his season's gone under the radar. But Jarrod Bowen, I think has had another good season, but we were just terrible. Right? Like, if he had a season like that at a villa or a forest, everyone's talking about him.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (42:25)
Yeah. ⁓

Nah, Jarrod Bowen's tough.

Dom Okus (42:38)
you know, and why is he not in the England team and all this stuff? But because we finished 15th from a West Ham, his season's kind of just gone under the radar, but he's been fantastic. Like he's been the only shining light in that team, has been Jad Boyd, so I did want to give him a shout out.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (42:50)
Yeah, I've

always thought about Jared Bowen that if he was light skinned and had braids, people would be all over him.

Dom Okus (42:58)
If he had Eno in his name, then people would be all over him, you know what mean? He's so good. Yeah. Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (43:04)
Exactly, it's just one of them. Garrett Bowen's class, but like it's just one of them where people just overlook it. Whereas if he had a big bushy beard and braids, like...

Dom Okus (43:16)
No, I agree.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (43:17)
I mean

he's Danny Dyer, like he's doing alright. ⁓

Dom Okus (43:20)
Yeah, for

sure. He's a player. A good player for us. And I think the thing that I like about him is no matter how we're doing as a team, he always shows up. So whether we're playing poorly, so for example, I look at Piquetta and Koudouz this season, both of those have kind of fallen by the wayside as we've not played well. But he's continued to kind of trudge along and have a good season. So, yeah, I wanted to give a shout out to him. Got to sneak my West Ham in there, sorry.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (43:31)
Mm-hmm.

you

I'll see you

Dom Okus (43:53)
So before we wrap up the show Jam, let's talk about next season. I know the transfer window hasn't even opened yet. I know we haven't seen anything. We ain't seen any pre-season, we ain't seen any manager sacking. We haven't seen anything. What are your predictions for next season? All I want to know is who is winning the Premier League next season?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (43:57)
Mm-hmm.

Liverpool.

Dom Okus (44:18)
They're going back to back? No. Manchester City are coming back with a vengeance. With a vengeance. You think Pep Guardiola is going to let all of this talk that's happened, like just go by the wayside. He is going to be furious this summer. They're going to have a crazy preseason. Yeah. He's and he's just lost his family because he's got divorced. Like he is coming with a vengeance. City.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (44:19)
Yeah.

He's not gonna sleep all summer.

then

screw it.

Dom Okus (44:47)
City are going to have one of those seasons next year. That Highland are going to score 30 goals. It's going to be one of those seasons.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (44:58)
Thing is I can see it as well. Not that I would prefer Liverpool to win the league by the way, it's just boring now, I've stopped winning it.

Dom Okus (45:03)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Yeah,

yeah, yeah, yeah. And then I know we haven't spoken on it all show, but what do you see for Man United next season? Like, what is going on? Do you want Amaranth to stay? Do want him to go? Do you want him to gut the team and have a summer of signings? Like, what are we doing with that club? Because this is just unacceptable.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (45:17)
⁓

All I want, and to answer your question, yes, Rim and Amirim, stay, please. Give him the keys, give him the keys to the castle. All I want as a Man United fan for next year is for us to just be competitive, to not literally, from the minute the lineups announced, for me to go, fuck's sake.

Dom Okus (45:38)
Okay, yeah.

Yeah.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (46:02)
Do you know, I just want to, I want to go back to the days of just like being optimistic when I want to go and watch my team play. I want us to be fighting, to be up in and around it. Do I think that, do I think that we're going to be at the top end of the league? No. Do I want the majority of this squad to leave the club? Yes. And again, that's on the recruitment staff and Ruben Amorim to, to, you know, get the right profiles in, you know, obviously it looks like we've got Matish Cugno.

the line looking at Brian and Bwemo names like Liam de Lap and you know Edison from ⁓ Atalanta you know but a lot of this depends on outgoings you know I feel like

I mean I went through the squad the other day just like just on my own after we we lost to Tottenham and I think I think I had 17 players that I'd be happy to see like not not like okay he could go no happy like get the fuck out

Dom Okus (47:04)
Is a quick question is Rashford on that list?

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (47:09)
You on the list? He's not allowed back in. train on your own. You can train on your own.

Dom Okus (47:15)
Because obviously he's only, he's only, because he's only on loan right?

He's only on loan so you're saying you'd like him to be gone like if his Man United chapter for you is off.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (47:25)
⁓ what you mean

after his like world class loan spell where he got two league goals? ⁓ my god, no I'd love him back, yeah. Yeah. ⁓ I'm surprised Villa aren't like banging on the door to get him back. No, I do not want Marcus Rashford back at Man United. Time's up, bye.

Dom Okus (47:40)
Well, I'm fed.

Fair

enough. think he could still add value to a team and maybe he just needs to get out of Manchester. Let's see. Yeah, I can't argue with that. I can't argue with that. The facts are, the proof's in the pudding. The proof's in the pudding.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (47:53)
I tried that, went down to Birmingham and that didn't really work out for him either.

Mate, I mean,

just on that, like this myth that he's gone away from United and he's gone back to Marco, not being funny, why is no one talking about Marco Asensio? They signed both of them on loan in January, Asensio was a joke. No one talks about him. They're talking about how all Man United fucked up with Roger's rush for this and that. No, they didn't. Like Marco Asensio made him look like an idiot.

Dom Okus (48:10)
Thank

Yeah. No.

Yes.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (48:27)
Marcus Rashford just isn't, he just isn't that guy anymore. He just, it's gone. I don't know what's gone on with him because like, I loved him. I loved Rashford for so many years, but like the penny hasn't dropped and I feel like it's gone too far. I feel like it's just, he's forced ⁓ United fans against him, if anything. And I think it's just time to get some cash and move on pal.

Dom Okus (48:56)
This is gonna be a hot take. I feel like he could go to Arsenal.

a real impact on that left-hand side over Martinelli and be really good under Mikhail Teta. I don't know if Arsenal would take that risk or they'd go for someone who's a little bit more informed but I still think there's a player in there and he just needs the right environment.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (49:19)
I have people

who have been saying this for two or three years. Oh, Paul Marcus. Oh, there's a player in there. He just needs to be happy. He looks so unhappy. I'm fucking 400 bags a week.

Dom Okus (49:30)
No but let me tell you this and we think we've spoken about this since Fergie left as anyone looked good in the Manchester United shirt consistently one player in how many seasons did he left in 2012? 13 years

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (49:37)
Bruna Fernandez.

Dom Okus (49:47)
one player.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (49:49)
I just don't think that's enough evidence for to, a Man United fan, to say that Rashford's not lost the fire. He's lost something in him, like...

Dom Okus (49:55)
No, I'm not saying I'm not saying I need no, I need to see it.

I need to see it because every player that's coming in from Falco to De Maria. No, but every player I've seen coming to the Man United forward has been rubbish. All of them. Every single one of them. So this can't just be a individual player thing. Something is wrong at the club and it needs sorting out and it needs sorting out now.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (50:03)
He had the chance mate, yeah, from January onwards.

Dom Okus (50:27)
So we will see. Let's see, let's see, let's see. have faith, I have faith.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (50:33)
What

about West Ham? What are you seeing for the summer?

Dom Okus (50:40)
⁓ West Ham, West Ham, West Ham. I don't know, I don't know. I don't know. Like, awful year for us. think the aim has just got to be to get back in the top 10. I think we need a few sign-ins.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (50:40)
Hahaha

Yeah.

Dom Okus (51:09)
I think it was really weird that we sent James Walpris out on loan when he was great last season. It was weird, weird, weird, very weird. So yeah, I we need a few signings. I Grandpot was all right, actually, to be honest. And I think he needs a summer, reshuffle the team. And then, yeah, let's figure this out. But I think it just needs to get the players going. I don't know if the players have bought in.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (51:14)
No, I just don't understand either.

Dom Okus (51:35)
like the likes of a kudu, soropeket, I'm not sure if they've been brought in or not. So I think we need a pre-season, probably make a few sign-ins and then I think the aim should just be top 10. Because again, like I said earlier in the pod, the Premier League next season I think is going to be one of the most difficult. Because everyone from a Brighton, Brentford form of all the way to obviously a Liverpool City's Arsenal's look good and can win. So I think if we don't sharpen up

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (52:01)
Mm-hmm.

Dom Okus (52:05)
like we could be in the same position next year which is which is not good yeah exactly so think that's a it's a good place for us to to stop because i don't want to keep licking our wounds as sad premier league fans so we'll wrap up there like we made it all the way to the end of the pod thank you so much for listening like i said earlier please like comment subscribe all that good stuff let us know your thoughts on all of our takes today

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (52:08)
all by the wayside get caught behind here

Dom Okus (52:34)
Do you completely disagree? Do you think I'm an idiot? Do think Jam is an idiot? Do you think we're both idiots? Let us know. Let us know if we give you a good take as well. Let us know where you ranked each player in each category. And did we miss anyone? Is there anything glaring in the face that we haven't discussed today? Let us know. But yeah, as always... It's the second best team in the league Jam. What's the problem? But yeah, thank you so much for listening for myself.

Jamil Roberts & Dom Okus (52:38)
Yeah.

think Dom has enough.

Dom Okus (53:04)
from Jam and we'll see you again next time. Peace.
